Introduction:
This post will outline some key protocols if you are seeking to boost immunity during the winter months. A quick reminder that the uptick in flu virality during the winter months is because we are spending more time indoors, in closer proximity to others. Plus, the most common heating methods create a dry-heat which dries out our nasal microbiome, the first source of defense against viruses.

In cold dry climates our mucosal lining is thinner and this is why bacteria are able to penetrate quicker. Breathing through your mouth in cold, dry environment or drying out nasal passages can make them more susceptible to infections.

Regular deliberate cold exposure done correctly can increase immune system markers and make you more robust to different types of infection through adrenaline release, but if you are overtaxing your immune system by staying cold after, you are doing more harm than good.
I love to get out into the cold in my swimsuit, slap my whole body beet-red, then do several minutes of Breath of Fire. This is apt for the cold due to the strong nasal exhales, plus strong stimulation of the diaphragm. Find this technique in my 10 Day Series.
